It's Book Blurb Friday at Writing in the Buff. Lisa has another terrific photo which we are challenged to imagine as a book jacket cover. Our job is to write the blurb for a book based on that cover. Here's my take on it:
The Bridge to Nowhere
How could things have gone so terribly wrong? During a simple game of "fetch" Katie's beloved dog, Sandy, scampered across the old footbridge and disappeared into the forest of Nowhere Island. Katie's parents had warned her for years about the mysterious activity on the island. They'd forbidden her to even go near the place. Tears puddled her eyes.
What should she do? Turn back and lose Sandy forever, or defy her parents and risk everything to find him? Katie's decision will change the course of her family's life forever.

Book Blurb Friday
It's Book Blurb Friday at Writing in the Buff. Here's my suggestion at a mere 78 words, written in honor of Earth Day.
Storms and Sunshine
Acclaimed environmentalist, Stanley Greene, writes a compelling account of his secret twenty-year relationship with Mother Nature.
Greene's frank and down-to-earth expose finally puts to rest the rumors surrounding this enigmatic lady. Is she saint or sinner? A breath of fresh air or a whirlwind? And what does she really think about the impact of the human race on her domain?
Discover it all for yourself, including Mother Nature's eye-opening opinion of Greene's crowning achievement, the Stan Greene Movement.

Book Blurb and the Truth
It's time for the Friday Book Blurb. Thanks to Lisa at Writing in the Buff for this week's photo prompt. Here is my offering at 120 words:
The Red Flower
For as long as Cara Princeton could remember, Jason Kippler had been part of her life. Next door neighbor, school-mate, and friend, over the years their relationship bloomed into something much deeper. Each month Jason sent Cara a single red flower as a token of their passion. She knew their love would last forever.
Then Jason mysteriously disappears without a trace. Cara is confused. Logic tells her she's been deserted, but her heart simply won't agree.
When Cara finds a red flower carefully attached to the tree where she and Jason first kissed, she knows it must be a message.
But can she discover what happened to Jason? And is she strong enough to handle the events that will change her life forever?

And now on to other business. I loved your guesses on my truth or lie post. Now it's time for me to 'fess up.
1. True! Indy has visited the KSDK television studios to help advertise events for the St Charles Humane Society on multiple occasions. On his first visit, weatherman Mike Roberts picked him up thinking it would make a cuddly-cute picture while he talked weather. Four month old Indy had other ideas. He wriggled and squirmed so violently that Mike had to put him down with a decidedly unelegant thump, in order to give his report.
2. False! I wanted a horse so badly that I nagged my parents about it constantly. My dad's reply was always the same, "Where you gonna keep a horse...in the garage?"
3. True! I spent a month at my best friend's place in Dallas, Texas. We hung out with real cowboys, part of a group called the Cow Town Posse. I got to ride a very valuable (and beautiful) barrel racer. It was the highlight of my fourteen-year-old summer!
4. True! When I was quite young, I begged for a dog. With a constant "No" ringing in my ears, I did the next best thing and created one. My invisible pup was quite well behaved and never once had a potty accident.
5. True! I can't explain why, but the morning after a terrible thunderstorm (lightening and thunder galore--the kind that makes you cover up your head and pray), the fish had become surface floaters. Household grown-ups informed me that the lightening must have gotten them. The poor things were flushed into a swirling and swift burial at sea.
There you are. Four truths and a lie.
Remember, I've passed on this honor and would love to see someone else take on the challenge.
How about you?
