This Little Piggy

Our Girls Weekend was a smash hit. Other than sunburn and slight dehydration (wonder how that happened?), everyone survived intact.

The activities were consistent. We had pool time, river time, and munchies time. Happy Hour usually occurred around 8am, 11am, noon, 2pm...well, you get the idea. Guess we were pretty happy all day long.

We got to meet a ton of interesting people, too. One of my favorite new friends is Cindy Brenneke. She is one high energy lady. Cindy owns Iron Works Fitness, is a personal trainer, author of a health & fitness book, animal rescuer, and founder of Where Pigs Fly, a farm that hosts free camps for disadvantaged youth.

Where Pigs Fly is located in Owensville, Missouri. As a nonprofit organization, the mission of Where Pigs Fly is to strengthen children's values such as teamwork, kindness, compassion, helpfulness, personal responsibility, and respect for others and animals. Take a virtual visit of this delightful farm and check out all that's happening here.

Cindy's little buddy, Petunia (a miniature pot belly pig) was an adorable part of our weekend.

Petunia is three weeks old. None of her litter mates survived. Cindy bottle feeds Petunia and believe it or not, that little piggy is already housebroken. Apparently pigs are born with the ability to get up and run as soon as they get clear of the afterbirth. Imagine being a mother to a litter of such agile critters. It gives the mom in me a headache.

Anyway, this little cutie wags her tail like a dog and loves to mash her nose against your hand or foot. She's the best rooter I've ever seen and pushes against you for all she's worth. Petunia is my new little love.

Don't tell anyone, but now I really, really want a pet pig.
