Pigs as Pets
Guinea pigs, that is.
A few days ago I went to the groomer to pick up Indy from his haircut and shave day. There I saw a small brown guinea pig getting his nails trimmed. He was so good about it, with only one little squeak when the trimmer got a bit too close to the quick (the little vein that feeds the nail).
I decided to read up on these charming guys. Turns out they're not pigs at all, but rodents, who (like all rodents) need suitable items to gnaw on to keep their continually growing teeth shipshape. Also known as cavies (KA-VEES), guinea pigs, with proper handling, are gentle and affectionate. For those who may have limited space, a guinea pig could make the perfect pet.
Never adopt an animal without first researching its care and whether or not it would be a good fit for your family.

Hi Pat ~
Woohoo! Welcome to the world of blogging. I'm looking forward to reading about your world!
My friends had a wonderful Guinea Pig called Luigi, who was a terrific little character. I was amazed how much fun so small a pet could be.
Thanks, Leona! And Linda, the little "piggies" seem to make wonderful pets for the right home!
