Indy's Blog Day
Guest blogger
Today is my turn to write for Critter Alley. By the way, I am fond of this name. Since I have seniority among critters at our house, please don't ever change it. (Unless you really, really want to, Mom.)
Right now we have a full house. Brady is here. Tinker Bell is here. I am here. And, as always, Bogey is here. Meal time is harder than usual. Mom feeds us in order of how slowly we eat. She says doing this means the fastest one (Brady), won't have time to grab food from the slowest one (Tinker Bell). Sometimes this works. Sometimes it does not. Food disruptions aren't all that's going on.
Brady likes to chase Bogey. While I don't object to this in principle, I hate how he barks as he runs. It makes Mom yell. Loud. Brady does not have good sense. Chasing cats is a sure way to receive a painful nose swipe. I know this. But Brady does not seem to care. It's only a matter of time until he will care. But there's more.
When Mom sits down, Tinker Bell races to beat me to her lap. I'm older now so sometimes Tinker wins. This is ungracious and highly unappreciated. I don't care if she is a guest. That spot belongs to me.
During the night, two can be company. But four is a definite crowd. I shouldn't have to fight for my place on the bed. I earned it long ago. But in spite of all these indignities, I try to behave like a gentleman.
Meanwhile Bogey told me that he has things under control. Yet I notice him keeping a sharp eye on the others. He's puffier than usual, and jumpy as a...well, as a cat. I think he's tired of being chased.
And no matter how cocky he is, I'm pretty sure Bogey's counting the days until Brady and Tinker Bell go home.
Just like I am.

Poor Indy, the things one has to put up with to be a good host.
It is very good of you to share your Mum's lap and the bed. We think your guests might behave a bit better when you are entertaining them, tut tut.
You are lovely and we look forward to seeing more of your adventures.
Wags and kisses, Dinah Bridget and Elliot xx
ps, your Mum has a good idea to feed the fastest last!
My sympathies, Indy, for the present inconveniences and indignities. Perhaps a word to the wise about Bogey's propensities for nose-swiping might help that situation. Otherwise, I see nothing to do but endure until these unappreciative guests depart. Then suggest to Mom that she not invite them again...at least not until they learn the ground rules and the pecking order in your home! Looking forward to your next blog on happier topics when you are again king of the castle!
Pats and ear scratches!

Indy, it must be difficult sometimes to be such a good dog with nice manners. You sound like such a little gentleman. You have a great sense of humor, too!
Aren't you a little cutie? What I mean to say is life is ruff, eigh Indy? I totally get where you are coming from as far as the Mommy's lap thing. I was my mommy's baby until Hootie came along. Now he's always up there and even has the nerve to growl at me when I want a little lap time!! Imagine.
Smooches, BabyRD
BabyRocketDOg is HUge compared to me!! I weigh like 25# and she is like 55#. Come on. Who would you want on your lap Indy?? I ask ya...
WelshieHugs, Hootie
You did a great job depicting the atmosphere in your home. I know, I empathize. The lap sharing, always an issue, especially when Mom sits down at night. Heck, even when she's on the computer somebody is always begging to be picked up...As for the feedings...a bit complicated. Oh, boy :)
Twink!
LOL! It certainly sounds like you have your paws full at your house, Indy!
