Stamping it Up

Where's my pen and stationery?

The United States Postal Service (USPS) may have a lot of problems, but there's one thing they're doing right.

On April 30, 2010, the USPS will unveil a new version of an extremely popular stamp they issued several years ago that features real shelter pets. And the message is a good one: adopt a shelter pet. This social awareness campaign has "adopted" a pretty powerful spokesperson, too. Ellen DeGeneres, one of my favorite female comics, is a strong advocate of shelter adoptions and, I suspect, will be promoting the stamps on her show and in other marketing media.

Look at those adorable faces! Kind of makes you want to write a real letter to someone, doesn't it?

It really is time they brought those back. Have you seen the new ones you can design yourself?

I'm always writing "real" letters, so I'm definitely going to pick up some of those cute stamps! My daughter just adopted a cute little dog from a shelter.

They're wonderful! Shelter pets are the best--including this huge beast that I don't need but who has beds all over the house so she can be comfortable wherever she follows me!

I actually write "real" letters from time to time, too, and I will definitely buy some of those adorable stamps! When I buy stamps, I always ask what they have that's new or different. I've gotten some really cool ones that way! Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the info. We need more awareness for the orphaned pets. I'll be sure to pick up some of these stamps. I agree with you about Ellen, she wears her heart on her sleeve when it comes to dogs - a great spokesperson.

Wanted to buy these adorable stamps the other day, but of course they weren't available yet. They will make a nice addition to my kids stamp collection.
