My Garden Loves a Good Storm

I know we need rain, but does it have to come all at once? We've had a wild weekend of intense storms, high winds, and torrential rain. Fortunately, we haven't sustained damage, although areas around us certainly have.

Neither Indy nor Bogey are particularly bothered by thunder or storms. Of course, Indy prefers not to go outside for a potty break when the rain is pelting down. He'd rather hold it, thank you, until the weather becomes more cooperative.

Here are a few shots that prove how happy our plants are to finally receive a good long cleansing soak.

A family of cardinals built a nest in the climbing vine you see pictured above, outside our screened porch. They produced a solitary egg. This is an area with a lot of traffic. Sadly, it seems the nest has been abandoned.

Nature doesn't always give us a happy ending, does she?

Anyway, I hope you, your critters, and your garden are enjoying spring in all its bursting glory!

Yeah, that was some storm we got, wasn't it?? Fortunately, it didn't bother Tiger at all, which is vary rare! Your flowers are so pretty. And yes, it's too bad about the little bird egg.

Lovely pictures Pat. The storm hit us before the week-end here in North Texas. I have been watching a chickadee flying in the remnant pipe from an old clothes line and can hear the baby birds chirping. I love this time of year. I hope the cardinal comes back.

You said it! I've found the nice side-effect of Buddy's old age hearing loss is that he doesn't seem to hear some thunderstorms. Beautiful flowers!!!

Oh how pretty! Our other dog Ryan would bite the rain when it fell...or growl at it when it came down to hard and hit him on the head.....G-dog will hide from it ;o)

Gorgeous flowers! Lady doesn't like to go out in the rain for necessities either! Sits on steps and looks at me pitifully!

You can say that again (nature does not always have a happy ending). We find so many broken eggs on the ground because of the wind, we're worried about the bird population in our own back yard.
Thank you for the positive thoughts for my two sissies yesterday. They gave us quite a scare. They're going to be fine. We're optimists :)

Your plants are looking beautiful, we could do with some much needed rain here too.

I would gladly take on a few inches of rain today after seeing six inches of fresh, evil snow. But I feel your pain...

Thanks for reading my blog and commenting so much! Your blog is outstanding! I want to start more blogs- I am a disabled Veteranand I have periods of bad health which really slows me down and interferes with my goals. Your blog is certainly inspiring! You are a great photographer too! I know I am the only person in the world without a digital camera! Thanks for being so inspiriational!

Pat, your garden sure is pretty. All we are seeing right now are daffodils and tulips. Still a little early for the colorful petunias I enjoy each summer. I don't know if you do an herb garden but I just discovered that butterflies love dill. I think I'll add dill to my garden this year. :)

Pat, love that climber. Did you ever send Pat Stone a story at Green Prints (I think thats the name)? It's a gardening magazine. Your photos tell wonderful stories; your words add tot he beauty.

Very pretty! All the rain DOES make for very pretty flowered gardens! Glad the storms didn't cause you to many problems! We aren't crazy about going out in the rain to go potty either! The CC
