Hot Summer Days

Picture courtesy My Dog is Cool website

It's a heat wave! Days of 90+ degrees with more to come. Factor in high humidity, and it's even harder to think about going outside.

Remember your critters in these toasty days! Fun as it as to take your dog places, he'll be much more comfortable at home (inside, please). And plenty of cool water to drink is a must.

Saturday morning I saw a dog locked in a car while his people were in an air conditioned restaurant enjoying breakfast. Thankfully, they returned before the dog overheated. Lucky, too, because if they didn't come out within a few more minutes, they'd have been paged by me...or the police.

For more hot weather tips, check out My Dog is Cool .

P.S. We were out of town over the weekend. I plan to catch up on blogs over the next few days!

Thank you, Pat! What a great reminder for all of us. I posted one of their links on Bandit's blog's sidebar.

Lady watches longingly as I go out the door, ever hopeful that she will be invited along...but the weather is so hot and humid that even 10 minutes in the car while I run in somewhere is 9 minutes too long. So she stays behind, looking sad...

Great reminder. I don't take my dogs for walks either. The pavement is much too hot by the end of the day. What does make me cringe is seeing a dog in the back of a truck.

Our dogs love to ride with us, but here in Georgia it has been 95+ degrees--too hot to leave them even with the windows half down. They look so sad when we head off without them! I wish they understood we leave them behind because we love them. When winter returns they'll be our riding buddies again.

That is very good advice for hot weather. Some people must be mad to leave a dog in a car in Summer. There have been a few instances here where people have had to break car windows because the dogs inside were dying, terrible.

I haven't had to call the police for a dog in a hot car in years. Let's hope that's a good sign!

That is a very important resource! Can't believe those humans who locked their poor woofie in the car! Is it illegal over there? It is illegal in our Mummy's homestate, but not all over Australia yet.

It's so nice to live in a place now without all of the humidity. It can be so exhausting. It's sad when people leave animals and babies in cars to die while they are keeping cool someplace in the a/c.

I can't believe that people would actually leave their pet or worse their child in the car in such extremely hot weather - it is really sad and concerning!

I am glad that you noticed and were going to get the poor puppy help if he needed it - Good Job!!!

Hang in there - I know we are baking out here in AZ and we don't have the humidity so I can't imagine.
