Weekend Wimp

Actor simulation of me on weekend. Trained professional. Do not try this at home.

Every Monday I count the days, waiting for the weekend to arrive. I just know I'll accomplish great things once I'm not stuck in my office.

The errands will be quickly completed. Groceries purchased and put away. Mega cooking accomplished, providing plenty of my favorite meal: Leftovers. Pet hair vacuumed and house cleaned to a pine smelling spic and span patina. Laundry washed, folded and put away.

But I won't stop there. Oh, no.

A wallpaper and painting project has lingered on for months. It's going to get finished. I'll simply love the new color, once I dust off the cans and remember what it looks like.

Meanwhile, the basement and garage are crying out for help. I'll make them look better than the "after" pictures from a decorating magazine. Perhaps I'll even take photos of the transformation. Might make a good article.

Speaking of which, I'm going to do some writing! I've got ideas just screaming to be put on paper. If I play my cards right, I can complete at least three short pieces for submission.

Oh, the things I will do, come the weekend!

Today it's Sunday. Indy snoozes at my feet. Bogey in my lap purrs louder than the clock ticking while I write these words. I'm not sure exactly what kept me from being the dynamo I'd planned to be, but it is what it is. There's only one thing left for me to do.

I'll start counting the days until next weekend.

I feel your pain! But next weekend is only 5 days away!

BTW, I was doing a good imitation of Bogey this morning at 7:15 when Lady insisted that it was time to go out--NOW!

My weekends are 7 days long and that's my plan every day of every weekend. I end up pretty much in the same position as you, sans Bogey and replace Indy with a cattle dog (in her own chair or on top of me)

It's too hot now to do much of anything. I swear though, come fall, when I return from Massachusetts...

Bogey looks so content and happy. I can totally relate to having a plan of action and list of things needing attention. I start a M-F, outside-the-home job tomorrow. I've previously worked from home since 1998. It's going to be a huge transition in many ways, but I know that I'll soon be in the same weekend mind-set as you. Here's to accomplishing most of what we intend to accomplish, work weeks that fly by, and long weekends!

As I've said before, Pat, you really should start your own PPP...Pat's Pet Photography!! You capture the best of the best! And, as far as your wonderful plans....I think the heat has really zapped the energy out of a lot of us. Even at the grocery store the other day, it seemed like everyone I saw, employees and customers, were all moving in slow motion! Enjoy your evening...and there's always next weekend, next month, next....

This SO resonated with me, only as a teacher, I do it with summers off. In June, I was going to re-grout an entire brick patio. At this point, I'll be lucky just to get some weeds pulled from between the bricks.

Oh, the things I will do....;-) But, let's face it..the weekend is technically a weekly "mini-vacation" and who does chores on vacation?? Great post!!

I remember living for the weekend and now that I'm no longer in the work force, one day just melts into the next...I kind of miss going to work!

Your cat is adorable! There's nothing more comfy looking that a snoozing kitty cat :-)

We are truly kindred spirits. I did attack the painting job I've been putting off and "attack" is an understatement. I was tearing off a wallpaper border and had the bright idea to scrape the horrible popcorn stuff off the ceiling. What a mess. I'm nearly done with the painting (ceiling and all) and it does look lovely. Just a few finishing touches and I'm done

Don't feel bad, I think we all do that. Huge plans and then they go out the window. I too have a seven day week end, and get nothing done. It drives me nuts.
Cute kitty in the sink.
Have a great rest of the week.

That is one contented cat! Projects do have a way of piling up, and it seems that weekends never have enough hours. Perhaps kitty has the right idea...
