Productivity...Or Not?
This is my view of the keyboard today when I got home and decided to sit down and write. I objected to the visual obstruction, and my view of the keyboard changed to something like this:
Therefore I'm not getting much done. Now I don't suppose it's fair to completely blame Bogey for my half-hearted attempts to get words on paper. I do, after all, have a door that closes. And locks.
However, it's cold outside tonight, and a warm kitty feels kind of good in my lap. And when I pet him, the purring generated is relaxing, in a Zen-like sort of way. So here's what I figure. There's a three day weekend ahead for me. I'm sure I'll get a lot of writing done then.
Call it pet therapy, or call it procrastination, it's time to keep company with the cat. So I'll quiet my mind and calm my breathing. My body will become as pliable and loose-jointed as his. We'll meditate together, him purring his mantra and me chanting mine.
It's so much easier to enter the Zone when you're guided by a master.

I agree with you...sometimes you just have to give in to the wishes of a cat and cuddle with him/her. In my case, Henry (our tabby), has been meowing relentlessly ever since I got back from the gym and has wandered on my lap top so it seems he wants me to pet him for the rest of the night!
Gotta love those pets. I have a dog either side of me, one likes to rest his head in my lap while I write.
I'm having a review competition on my blog if you're interested.

give in to the scritches!!! Too cute!!!
beautiful sentiment and ohhh so true! I need to do the same. There is something about burying our faces in the fur of our dear cats that makes everything better.
Tell mom again scratchies are of the utmost importance

This is such a cute post. And your kitty is such a little stinker (that's a good name I give to animals). The post sounded so good that I decided I'm going to get off the computer and snuggle up with my little stinker Smeagol! Love's always better - writing can wait.
What a purrfect post on this cold winter night.

So beautifully written, Pat! I totally agree with you, and if I had a kitty, I'd do the same.
I call it pet therapy! I even enjoy a good cuddle with a warm kitty on a cold night!
Your pal, Pip
it seems that Bogey knows exactly what you need right now. Listen to the cat.
I agree with the others, animals are wiser than humans. Bogey knows what you really need.
Or is that what he really needs? Either way, listen to the cat. ;-)
Bogie knows best
Funny how cats always get in the way ;-)

Ahhhhh. I wish I had a cat like that to hang out with me when I want to write.
Just hopping on by via SPBH. You have a great blog, some funny photos too. If you have some spare time please come and say hello to me too.

Sometimes it's up to them to remind us to relax a little. :)
You know my mom person says she really needed to read that post today. She's been so busy on the computer she hasn't spent any time with me!

miss pat,
you see, we doggies and kitties are good for your health! teehee.

the booker man
Absolutely inspiring--both Bogey and your post!
Ahh, you just can't object to such a cuddly view. They just seem to read your mind when you want to get something done and make you 'prioritise' instead, lol.

Heh--Bogey knows he's got it made and that you're going to dedicate your next book to him, of course.
LOL, the visual obstruction objected to your objection! My cat tries to sit on my lap when I'm writing, and it never really works out well for either of us.
Give some pets sound reactions. Great!!!
