A Little Sasee in the Mailbox
On my way to the mailbox Saturday, I noticed that our asphalt street had actually softened from oven-worthy temperatures. "Balmy" 100-plus degree weather continues. Although there were a few sprinkles this afternoon, we are in desperate need of a cool-down supplemented by a few days of steady rain.
Fortunately, braving the heat turned out to be time well spent. The July issue of Sasee waited for me. I couldn't wait to open it because my true essay, "Fried Chicken and Angel Food Cake" appeared inside. The story is important to me because it's about the most significant event that my mother and I ever experienced together.
Sasee is a truly lovely publication, and one I believe any woman would enjoy reading. You can get a feel for Sasee (and read my story!) on the Sasee website. Sasee sells subscriptions if you'd like to indulge yourself by receiving the hard copy. From what I've seen, it's worth it. If you decide to visit the website, I'd love it if you could read my story and leave a comment under it to let me know what you think.
Meanwhile, Bogey is in my lap with his tail slapping my cheek while Indy gazes at me in a most pitiful way. Translation:
"If food isn't provided immediately, we will both starve before you can type another word."
Do I have two Drama King critters, or what?

If you do get some of that Cooling Rain... could you send any EXTRA to our hill?
Powerful story Pat - I left a comment.

Drama critters for sure! I know what that's like! :)
That's a very well written story. The ending didn't surprise me as I felt that was coming, but it's not an ending we would choose. You are a good writer.
Cozy had it right, Powerful. I hope we all get some rain. Cool things down and put out the fires where I live.
Blessings,
Goose
Oh dear, the extreme heat is bugging you too.
What, another publication? Wow, that's awesome. Congratulation. We are happy that you got to share one of the most special events in your life to the readers.

I will pop over there and read your story. We have been hearing about the heat and storms overthere. Hope it cools down a bit for you soon.

We read the essay. It was very touching. We left a comment under the name L.Chase.
Your story made me cry, it was beautiful. I'm proud to share this credit with you, Pat.
I'll look forward to my hard copy, but I don't think I can wait for my issue, so I'll go check out the online! Congratulations!
