Chillin' At Home

Today not even the air conditioning is sufficient. I've got a fan moving fast enough to make my hair look like I'm hunkering down during a Midwestern twister.

The humidity is an added bonus. It makes the air feel so thick and heavy that you can almost do the breaststroke through it. All in all, not one of our more pleasant days. But, hey, that's the way summer rolls in Missouri, whether we like it or not.

Of course, the whiny side of me is a bit cranky about the whole thing. It would be lovely to have sun, dry air, and 80 degrees for the weekend. But my practical side points out that it could be worse. Try being pregnant in this heat. I noticed only this morning that the perky little weather girl on Channel 5 is about 3 years pregnant (by the way, have you noticed that women these days wear form-fitting clothes that showcase their baby bump? I used to wear a tent-top to hide mine). But I digress...the girl looks like she could go into labor any second. It makes me wonder what would happen if her water breaks on air. Whoops...predicting a 100% chance of isolated showers.

Anyway I wish her well. Anyone as pregnant as she is who can get up at 4 a.m., travel in sweltering heat and stand in front of a fake map of Missouri while wearing Spandex and heels deserves a medal. Guess I better count my blessings and chill.

Move over, Indy and Bogey. I'm turning up the fan...

We are having 80 degree days here (virtually a phenomenon) and were considering the novel concept of buying a fan.
Yes, I noticed that about pregnant women these days, a lot like to wear little tops with all their tummy out on show - not a look I would have gone for either.

Stay cool. Today it is cooler here and we can go out to the park. Bonus. But next week it is going to get hotter. Yikes. Have a super Saturday.
Best wishes Molly

It HAS been unpleasant lately. But then, I hide for most of the summer--the AC on and the curtains closed...

Yes, I remember the tent days well. Apparently the new style is to have your belly button outlined through your clothes!!!
We just had some rain (unusual for July here in Texas) it means the humidity onslaught will be with us as soon as the sun comes out.

I'm with you, Pat. The heat and humidity have been oppressive.

The weather girl is a brave one. I was very pregnant during the summer with each of my children, who were both born in the fall, and wore loose fitting clothes. I was happy to shed those tents after my babies were born.

Even we are having a hot one up here in Alaska. Wouldn't you know I would be reseeding the backyard and praying for rain! Ha ha

Ha-ha I laughed out loud at this. I agree it was hotter than ever. But I'll take heat over cold anyday. Oh yes, those preggos display it all these days.
