Happy Thanksgiving

Well, its the day before Thanksgiving, and I'm ready to dive into the whirlwind of preparation that accompanies the honor of being hostess of the big day. Bogey's in my lap and Indy's at my feet as I type, fulfilling their duties as my Valuable Assistants.

Today I want to give thanks for the good things we have. Like a country where we enjoy the freedom to make more choices than almost anywhere else on earth. It's a place where most of us are pretty fortunate, and a place where, in times of need, so many individuals and organizations are swift to reach out and lend a hand. I'm thankful for those who serve us in so many ways...military, police, fire fighters, health care workers, the clerk who smiles as she takes my order, the waittress that works to make my meal pleasant. There are so many hardworking good people out there. Thanks to each and every one of you.

I'm thankful for my family, friends, a job, reasonably good health (for someone who's eligible for certain senior discounts), and of course for my little critters (annoying as they may be at times). I'm thankful, too, for those who work in the so often heartbreaking capacities of helping companion animals and wildlife. I firmly believe that by helping those without the ability to help themselves (whether people or critters) we become more compassionate and a stronger nation.

Finally, before I get on with my tasks, Indy, Bogey and I hope you can take time to count some of your blessings, too.
