Number 5 Fave
Mother Goose and Grimm by Mike Peters
Mother Goose and Grimm was created by Mike Peters and syndicated in 1984. The strip appears in over 800 newspapers and nearly always is named among the top 10 in lists of popular comics. It features a wise-cracking dog called Grimmy, who continually schemes (often unsuccessfully) to one-up others, especially his kitty pal, Attila. Both are "owned" by Mother Goose (a goose dressed in human clothing called "Mom" by Grimmy and Attila). The strip spawned a short-lived Saturday morning cartoon show. Peters is also known for his editorial comics that frequently appear in the strip.
Because he nearly always makes me laugh out loud, I chose the funny, off beat, weird character of Grimmy as number 5 in my list of favorite comic strip critters.

This isn't one I'm familiar with, but Grimmy sounds like a character!
