Finished!

I finally dragged my ever so weary posterior across the finish line as of 8:20 p.m. today. I finished NaNoWriMo with 50,148 words. And strangely enough, the story isn't finished. It'll take at least a couple more chapters to wrap things up. Of course that task will be saved for another day...or week...or month. Or dare I say year? But who's counting? It's certainly not me thinking about those many, many hours of edits still to come.

Suffice it to say, my story is far from finished. But it's time to let it rest for a while. Like a cake that's fresh from the oven, it needs to cool off and settle a bit before I start the real work of turning it into something that another person might actually want to read.

Which reminds me...my 2009 NaNo manuscript is still waiting patiently for all the necessary TLC it has yet to receive.

I didn't claim to be fast at this game, did I?

Let me just say this about NaNo. It is an amazing exercise that makes you write when you don't feel like writing. It makes you meet deadlines you never thought you could. It forces you to put words on paper, even though they may not be golden. For one solid month, you absolutely must behave like a writer.

And that's the whole point.

If you've never tried NaNo, I strongly encourage you to give it a shot one of these days. You'll be surprised at what you can achieve.

To fellow NaNo writers everywhere, congratulations! Hope by December 1, you'll be sporting the "Winners" badge on your blog or website.

As for me, I plan to kick back and relax. I'll be doing some blog visiting and plan to post an update soon on how my Indy-boy is doing.

Woo-hoo! I finally get to rejoin the world!

YEAH! WOOT! WOOT! I'm so glad for you! I'll be posting my winners badge at some point. I too have a bit more to write on the story even at 56,000+ and haven't written anything in the past five days - you know there was this thing called Thanksgiving that got in the way and then a granddaughter's bday party. Hope Indy is doing okay!

What a great accomplishment! My mom person has always wanted to write a book, but something always holds her back.

Congrats to you!

Congrats Pat - well done. It is no easy task but well worth the discipline. I didn't participate this year. I have two drafts to work on already.

Congratulations! NaNo is a wonderful (if exhausting) process. Somehow I think all the writing was a lot more fun that the editing is going to be!

Looking forward to an Indy update. Hope the little fella is feeling okay.

Congratulations! That is a true feat of awesomeness.

I don't have what it takes to ever attempt NaNo but I am proud to say my NaBloPoMo run this year has gone well. One post left!

Congratulations Pat! You have been an inspiration to me and my girls. My daughter has been writing and said she was doing like "Critter Alley", lol. One day I'll have to give Nano a try.

Hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving!

Congratulations on doing the NanoRimo! I hope to try it one year, it would probably show me what I really can achieve if I try.
