Imagination Vacation
As I write these words, somewhere in the world breezes are gently rustling through the leaves of palm trees that stand tall in fine white sand. The scent of salt air penetrates lungs as crystal blue water laps against the shore in a soothing rhythmic pattern.
It's impossible to resist moving into the ocean. Ankle deep, wet sand crumbles and dissolves underfoot. A small wave pushes past pillars formed by two legs, and then retreats back into the vast deep mystery of a tropical sea. Eyes closed, everything melts away except the cry of gulls, the whoosh of water, and the warmth of sunlight touching bare skin.
Do you feel more relaxed? I do.
This isn't day-dreaming, it's mind travel...and exceptionally economical. You can go where you want, when you want, without the expense of gasoline, tickets, credit card, or passport. Today I might even let Indy and Bogey go along with me. I'll watch them run free, exploring the scents of the beach to their heart's content.
Consider taking a mini-vacation of the mind. Where would you visit?

That sounds heavenly. As I was reading your words I could almost imagine being there and yes, I did feel more relaxed. I will have to take a little mind trip more often!

I'm with you. Anyplace that is warm, with a light breeze, and tall cool glasses of lemonade will fit the bill for me. I love the cost of the imagination vacation too.
I've heard so much about the benefits of meditation and it seems as if you have found "your quiet place" by imagining a dream vacation. I think I have to start meditating asap!
If I could be somewhere right now I would love to be back in Cozumel where the water was turquoise and the temperature was just right....
Awwwwwwh... THANK YOU!!
The beach is a great place to start! I'm halfway, there!
Happy tails!

Pat,
Just the words, warm and beach make me happy. Thaks for the mini vacation.
That one works for me, when to we leave?
Thanks for the relaxing trip :) Sounds just amazing and makes me miss the ocean even more so, but this brought a smile to my face as I needed it this cloudy afternoon.
ahhhhh delightful!
Without a doubt I would transport myself to Kauai, my husband and I honeymooned there five years ago this June and I eagerly await our return...I am closing my eyes....
Great job with the description. Thanks for taking us along!
That picture looks wonderful. By the way, Mary Kennedy offered to send her book Stay Tuned for Murder to someone who left a comment on my blog. Your name was picked. Can you send me your address and I'll forward it on to her.

Great idea for this cold winter day. Definitely a Caribbean island! Never been, so I'll have to imagine really hard.
That was a fun vacation - thanks for letting us tag along!
Hmmm...I was right there with you. I may have to shut my eyes and visit St. George Island.
Oh, a tropical vacation would be so nice right now... I'm tired of winter!
It just makes me upset that I can't afford to go anywhere for real!
