Seems like every woman I know is on Pinterest. It's become quite the topic of discussion. One friend's entire wedding plans are on her board. Another has a huge recipe collection pinned. A co-worker can't wait until the kids go to bed at night so she can give Pinterest her full attention. Sounds almost like an addiction, if you ask me.
What could be so fascinating about a bulletin board? I have one of those near my desk, and believe me it isn't something I'd want anyone else to look at. So in the interest of research, I decided to visit Pinterest and look around for myself. Here's what I discovered.
Pinterest is colorful and attractive. It's filled with photos, artwork, books, quotations.
Pinterest has a nifty little feature where you can look up a person, item, or topic. Type what you want in the search box and...ta-da! Tons of hits appear. As far as I can tell, pretty much anything you can think of is covered, from people to places, to pets, to books, to well...you name it.
After you join the site (it's free) you can take ideas you find and "pin" them to your very own boards. Pinterest helps you keep everything neatly organized so it won't look at all like my disasterous board at home.
I decided to sign up and immediately emails began to arrive telling me that people were now "following" me. Of course, they will soon lose interest because my board is bare as can be. I haven't yet taken the plunge of trying to pin an idea or follow anyone else. I'm not even sure if I should.
Thus the question of the day rears it's head. Should I give in to another cyber-distraction that will keep me from doing the things I should be doing, or resist the temptation? And I must sadly admit, it is tempting. I spent a good two hours just looking around.
What about you? Are you on Pinterest? Is it worth the time spent?

Yep! We Pin! We do look at other people's pins, but it is no more different than any other social media for me.

Hi Pat! I'm always late to the dance. I heard about Pinterest quite a while ago, but had no idea what it was. I've only looked at it twice, recently, and I was searching for something particular. There's no way in H-E-Double Hockey Sticks, that I'll sign up for it, or even spend any more time on it. It would be way too much of an addicting distraction...I know my limits! :)
I haven't joined yet but have looked at quite a few and some of them are so interesting!

We are on it and like it. Have a great Monday.
Best wishes Molly
It's addictive! I love it, but now limit myself on the amount of time I spend pinning :-0
We just joined a week or so ago funny enough, not sure I quite get it yet, but that could be said of many things I do online! Or in real life come to think of it.
Am hoping I don't get too into it, I already spend oodles of time online but with the rain, rain, rain we're having in England its about the driest way to spend our time off at the mo. The girls hate getting wet, they love sitting at my feet while im online gossiping, so I may get pinning soon :)
I signed up but have done nothing with it because I have enough going with 2 blogs, Twitter, 2 email accounts, etc. I don't need more hobbies at this point.
I wonder what I would be posting in Pinterest? I guess one of the reasons why I don't do Pinterest is because I'm no longer the type who prefer being updated in everything.
Well, we hope to hear your Pinterest adventures soon.

I am not sure about it. My sister looks at it all the time and I can't help but feel that it is a place where people pin what they want but can't have.... thus it makes one unhappy.
However, when you say that wedding plans are up there it sounds like it isn't just about what you want but can't have.

Oh, you are so mean, making me cover my ears and chant, "La la la la la!" to drown out the Pinterest thoughts. People like you have tried to lure me in, but I know exactly what would happen. I can't afford one more addiction!
Thanks for explaining what the Pinterest thing is about. We love the blog and we are glad other people love to blog too. Mommy gets worried when workers tell her -- who blogs anymore -- aren't they on facebook or twitter or something. Mommy likes the blog just fine -- hope others will still like to blog even with all those other e-temptations out there.
First for me it was ebay, then Rykers blog, just recently added facebook. I am like you, afraid to add anymore. I don't have time for the ones I have now...but I will go have a look!
Yep! We pin. But like you said, it can be a distraction.
