I look high and then higher still. Standing in the light of the
full moon is the outline of an enormous beast, his nose pointing to the heavens, sniffing
the wind. My belly drops to the ground, my ears flatten, and I lie very still, barely breathing,
uncertain what to do next. The beast takes a step and then stops, sniffing the
air again. He shakes his head and I hear a deep rumble come from his
throat.
In seconds that feel like hours, I think
about my master. Of the day he found me, a hopeless and starving street dog.
How he took me home and lovingly nursed me back to health. He saved my life. I
cannot turn tail and run. I cannot give up. No matter the obstacle, I must find
my master. A shiver ripples through my body, but I crawl slowly forward. The
head of the beast lowers until I can see the bright reflection of moonlight
glint from his eyes as they lock on mine. I leap to my feet and keep my legs
stiff as the hairs across my shoulders rise. My lip lifts in a snarl worthy of
a guard dog three times my size.
The beast crouches and then launches
himself toward me.

Oh my! The hair on the nape of MY neck is raised and I am holding my breath. This is certainly a cliff hanger. Great job!
Good one and well done getting it done so quickly. Have a marvellous Monday.
Best wishes Molly
Pat--I love the idea of a book/story written from the perspective of a dog. It reminds me of one of my childhood favorites--"Black Beauty" which exposed me to what a horse's life was like.
Well done, and you left me on the edge of my seat.
Oh how thrilling! Maybe the beast is hungry and want's a piece of pizza what they had in the cabin?
Oh boy! I’m sooo glad I didn’t see it properly, ‘cos I would’ve turned tail and ran back into the cabin!
Great chapter. Can’t wait for the next one.
